Acute Care Education (ACE) is a nursing education company that has delivered quality educational workshops and courses since 1997. Since its inception ACE has taught over 10,000 nurses and other allied professionals in such courses as advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), 12 lead ECG interpretation and critical care review for nurses. Some students have come as far as Ireland, China and The Netherlands and just to attend our courses.
Michelle Cleland is the founder of ACE. She currently works at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in the trauma ICU, cardiovascular ICU, neuro step-down unit, burn unit and the rapid response team. Previously Michelle worked as a critical care educator at the Scarborough Hospital. Most of her career she has been employed at University Health Network, Toronto General site, working in the coronary intensive care unit. She has been an executive member of the Toronto chapter of the Canadian Association of Critical Care Nurses (CACCN) in the capacity of education chair. Michelle has also taken on roles at CACCN as editor and web master.
Michelle began her career by developing and teaching the coronary nursing program at George Brown College. Her passion is education using simulation. Michelle is certified by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario as an ACLS Course Director. She has been teaching ACLS with low and high fidelity simulation for over twenty years and continues to teach on a weekly basis. She brings her experience and enthusiasm to every course she teaches.
